Stop using the opener. A door held out of its track is resting on hardware that is not designed to carry it, and every attempt to run the motor bends track, tears hinges out of the panels and creases the sections.
Re-seating the door is the visible part of the job. The part that matters is finding why it left the track, because a door that is simply lifted back in will come out again.
Signs you need off-track repair

Support the door and take the load off
The door is secured and the spring load managed before anything is moved. A door hanging out of track has weight in unexpected places, and lifting it without support is how people get hurt and panels get bent.

Re-seat rollers and inspect every section
Rollers are guided back into the channel and each panel, hinge and end bracket is checked for damage that happened during the derailment. Torn hinge mounts and creased sections are identified now rather than found later.

Straighten or replace damaged track
Minor bends in the vertical or curved track are straightened; sections that are kinked or torn are replaced. Track is then re-plumbed and the horizontal runs re-levelled and re-hung, because a track that is out of square will push the door off again.

Fix the cause and re-test
Worn rollers are replaced, cable tension is equalised, spring balance is rechecked and the opener limits reset. The door is then cycled repeatedly to confirm it tracks cleanly through its whole travel.

How long it takes
A clean derailment with no structural damage is usually back in service within 1 to 2 hours. Where track sections need replacing, hinges have torn out of panels, or a vehicle impact has creased a section, the repair takes longer and the option of replacing the affected panel is quoted alongside it.
Safety warning
Do not run the opener on a door that is off its track, and do not try to lever it back into the channel. The door can drop or swing without warning, and the spring system is still loaded. Park vehicles outside the garage, keep children and pets out of the space, and leave the door where it is until a technician arrives.
Why this comes up in Hamilton
Older Hamilton garages contribute their own share of off-track calls. Narrow single-car garages built for 1950s vehicles leave very little clearance on either side of a modern SUV, and a light clip of the track while parking is enough to pull it out of plumb. Detached garages that have settled over decades — common through the North End, Crown Point and older parts of Dundas — end up with door openings that are no longer square, so the track is fighting the frame every cycle.
Winter contributes the other common cause. When the bottom seal freezes to the slab and the opener pulls against a door that will not release, the load goes into the top section and the rollers, which is exactly the condition that lifts a roller out of its channel. Clearing ice and snow away from the base of the door before opening it prevents a large share of these calls.
